ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS
Standing at the edge of the world
30X48" diptych (2 panels). Ready to hang. I love standing on the escarpment where the Pacific crashes into our island. I compose the impressions of the sea in my mind. With images imprinted on my mind I return to the studio and pick up my brushes. The original is a diptych and the prints are melded into one piece.
Mid Island Mosaic
48X36X1.5" oil on canvas. You can view and purchase this piece at The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria The forest interiors teem with rivers and streams. In this painting I enjoyed the interplay between the rich earthy reds and the prolific greens. There is a plethora of life in these little valley bottoms with signs of bears and cougars as well as a multitude of birds. Wonderful to spend time in.
Warmland Snow
oil on canvas
24" x 36"
Original is reserved for the duration of the raffle. You could win this painting. We get little snow in our temperate climate. When it lays for a while it is a beautiful counterpoint to the warm colours of the Arbutus trees that populate our coastline.
The Estuary
20X24", oil on canvas, framed. The estuary lies between the cascading rivers and the immense ocean. It is here in the interface where I can kayak amongst feeding seals and sea lions and multitudes of sea birds. This scene captures the repose at slack tide. The water lies quiet and warms over the sun soaked sand. Peace before frenzy.
The Watchman
48X48", oil on canvas You can view and purchase this piece at The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria A solitary raven sifts through the giant spruce and cedar. He watches us travel below. Will we respect or destroy the watchmans home?
The Tempest
48X48", oil on canvas. 3/4" wrapped edges painted. Ready to hang. The Pacific can be treacherous and relentless. Even the hardest rocks wear down from the consistent pounding. Powerful places to stand and behold.
Arbutus Dance
Arbutus Dance was inspired by a synergy between "place" and "form". Bill Hibberd searches out those magical "thin places" in nature where the physical and divine rub together. This grove of arbutus trees habitate one of those places. Their human-like limbs and colouring imply community and interaction. Very charming as well as eminently paintable.
24X24x1”. Very nice espresso floating frame included.
Calla Grace
24X36", oil on canvas. (currently reserved for duration of raffle. You could win this painting.) I love the sublime curves of the Calla lily. Juxtaposed against this heavy impasto background the delicate are amplified.
Dignity in Decay
24X20", oil on canvas, framed The warmth and richness of this stream bed inspire awe. Everywhere in this forest are scenes of nature nurturing itself through the life cycle.
Sheringham Point

Evenglow
24X20", oil on canvas, framed. In the last minutes of the day the interior of the forest is bathed in warm summer light. Magical! One must be careful to not be seduced to stay past the dusk. night falls fast and hard out here. I have been in situations where I considered staying put through the night rather than risk a fall in the darkness. This is a lovely trail on one of our gulf islands.
Wild Pacific
30X48", diptych (2 panels). Currently reserved for raffle. You could win this painting.
This seascape was composed during our summer camping on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It is such a wild place, bursting with life. The original is a diptych and the prints on canvas are melded into one piece.

Early Memory.
16X16x1", oil and 23carat gold leaf on cradled birch panel. From my precious metal period. Oil paint is transparently applied over a genuine gold leaf ground. This piece is very interactive with ambient light. Transitions from moody to glowing as light changes. A tribute to my childhood and my middle child.
