In the last minutes of the day the interior of the forest is bathed in warm summer light. Magical! One must be careful to not be seduced to stay past the dusk. night falls fast and hard out here. I have been in situations where I considered staying put through the night rather than risk a fall in the darkness. This is a lovely trail on one of our gulf islands.
